Market Movers at Caulfield and Randwick in early betting 2 April 2026

“Championship Movers”

This week we focus on all the big betting moves on Day 1 of the Championships at Randwick and have also highlighted a number of key market adjustments in Melbourne.

At Caulfield the Danny O’Brien yard have rarely been missing when they bet, and have entered an interesting runner who looks very well placed following a strong performance at Flemington.

Whilst at Randwick Bjorn Baker has a young 2yo filly racing on debut for high-profile owner John Singleton…where Bjorn will be highly motivated to have the horse ready to win!

As always, any further market push close to start time would add extreme confidence.

Caulfield
R No. Horse Move
3 6 THEBELMONTGANGSTER $2.50 > $2.35
4 9 PANTILE WARRIOR $5.50 > $3.30
5 6 SAVITRI $6.00 > $4.60
8 17 AMBASSADORIAL $7.50 > $4.00

Thebelmontgangster

The Anthony and Sam Freedman stable have been in plenty of strife recently with a potential lengthy suspension hanging over their heads, hence will be looking to make every post a winner with that decision looming, where naturally highly motivated to win with this runner.

It appears there are some underworld heavies involved in the ownership (as the name suggests) hence again some added motivation to be winning…especially if they have told them to have a bet.

Watch the market late and if another wave of support comes, I expect he will be in the finish.

Pantile Warrior

Is an interesting move in betting for the Danny O’Brien yard who have been absolutely flying in recent times, especially when they bet.

He was excellent last start at Flemington when led them up over the challenging 2000m trip and kept finding down the long Flemington straight to finish 4 of 12.

It is very difficult task to be leading for the entire journey over the 2000m at Flemington and his effort in nearly achieving this last time out was full of merit. Now rock-hard fit, he can atone here.

Savitri

The ownership group Kia Ora Stud are very well respected by trainers and there is a heightened level of motivation with their horses as the trainers want to receive more of their colts with the big success bonuses associated with them.

Although this runner is a filly, the stable will still be out to impress with impeccable placement and an elite performance.

Mitchell Freedman does not receive a huge amount of opportunity with the blue-chip owners and will not want egg on his face with a poor showing here.

Ambassadorial

Has won his past two starts this campaign and has been readied since the last start Flemington win with a trial, which signals good intent to be winning here.

In a race that appears to lack speed he could take full control here rolling along in front and has the tactical speed to dictate to them all.

If they allow him a few cheap sectionals in the lead expect he can simply kick off the front at the 200m mark and win.

Randwick
R No. Horse Move
1 9 BLUE DOOR $6.50 > $4.80
2 7 PROFOUNDLY $6.50 > $5.50
7 2 BRIASA $8.50 > $5.50
9 3 GREEN SPACES $4.00 > $3.20

Blue Door

Is on debut for the big-time owner in John Singleton who the trainers are always out to impress in the hope of securing more horses.

This filly is a very well-bred high-priced yearling and the pressure that comes with achieving a result aligns well for a good performance here.

The Bjorn Baker stable are sure to have given this one some extra attention to achieve a win here.

Profoundly

Another runner where the motivations are typically higher for the trainer due to the profile of the ownership group (the Freedman family colours).

It appears there was a lack of intent last start where they have been looking to get this horse out in distance before they are going to hit the “go button”.

She got a long way back at Kembla Grange last time out and ran on well to suggest the 2000m here will be ideal.

Briasa

The Hawkes Team have had a lean trot recently with winners drying up. However, this means they will be paying particular attention to their better horses.

Briasa is certainly that and should be fully wound up for this assignment.

Green Spaces

Has been a big tip around town and looks an out-and-out stayer.

Last start suggested the 2400m Derby trip will suit perfectly and he now gets his chance to show it.
