This week we have both key venues covered with an excellent guide in relation to the significant moves in early betting markets.

At Caulfield, Ciaron Maher has one of his favourite sprinting mares engaged where he appears to have placed her perfectly dropping back from Group 3 level.

Meanwhile at Rosehill, the key owner factor is high, with several trainers clearly motivated to impress influential ownership groups and secure future opportunities.

Caulfield tips

Obambulate

Surprised a few last start when winning at Pakenham after drifting notably in betting from $3 out toward $5 late in trade.

That market move may suggest the horse was not fully screwed down for the first-up assignment, yet he still proved too strong when it mattered.

Fitter now and with the second-up profile reading strongly (1:1-0-0), he looks set to improve again. The fact Craig Williams sticks is another major positive.

Swift Forces

The short quote has done nothing to scare punters away, with the opening $1.85 quickly trimmed into $1.70.

She was excellent first-up at this track and distance range when controlling proceedings on speed before kicking clear when asked.

The rise to 1200m looks ideal and she profiles as a filly with genuine Stakes race upside if she continues progressing through the grades.

El Rocko

The John McArdle stable are very shrewd operators and when they continue to support one after a poor run, it pays to take notice.

Last start’s sixth of six at Sandown may read poorly on paper, however that race could prove a very strong form reference and the on-speed pattern that day didn’t suit his racing style.

With tactical speed to either lead or sit outside the leader, he maps to get every chance.

Recommendation

I’m convinced Ciaron Maher has a very high opinion of this mare and had her set to fire first-up this campaign at Ballarat where things simply didn’t pan out.

She then went to Morphettville and wasn’t beaten far in Group 3 company, finishing only 1.5 lengths from the winner in stronger grade than this.

Dropping back to this level looks ideal and if she controls proceedings in front, she could prove extremely hard to run down. Yes.

Rosehill Tips

Nasebah

Races for high-profile owner Nick Vass and history suggests trainers rarely leave much to chance when his horses head to the races.

The ownership group invests heavily in bloodstock and with that comes extra pressure to place horses correctly and produce results.

Chris Waller appears to have found a suitable race here and the early market support suggests confidence is high.

Mawjood

The MyRacehorse factor is strong here, with trainers always keen to perform for large ownership groups that can continue feeding horses into the stable.

Bjorn Baker would have left no stone unturned and the market support suggests confidence from within the camp.

He was good last start at Randwick when finishing third after traffic issues throughout and now fitter again, this looks an ideal set-up.

La Basilique

Interesting long-priced move for a Chris Waller runner who clearly must be showing something behind closed doors.

She had genuine excuses at Scone last start when never obtaining clear galloping room and the finishing position probably undersold the performance.

The key here is her previous two wins which were ultra-impressive and suggest she has considerably more talent than her current quote indicates.

Hay Street

This may be one of the strongest street corner tips of the week with plenty keen to tell you this horse simply wins.

The Archibald stable are flying and with their depth of stock, they know exactly where their better horses sit internally.

He was heavily supported at Scone last start and just missed by 0.2 lengths after chasing hard all the way to the line.

If the money arrives again late, it may confirm what many already believe. That this horse is ready to go one better.
