Significant betting moves have been witnessed this week at both major venues, with waves of money arriving early for a number of key runners.

At Flemington, the Hayes boys have two heavily supported runners including a debutant that Damien Lane appears very keen to partner.

Meanwhile at Randwick, a Queensland raider has created intrigue with a long-priced move, and the stable confidence behind her appears genuine.

As always, any further market push close to start time would add extreme confidence.

Flemington Tips

Hard Kick

Team Hayes debutant with Damien “Frosty” Lane booked — and that alone says plenty.

Lane would have had ample opportunity to sit on this horse at the Euroa property in trackwork, and if he’s happy to take the ride race day, the opinion must be strong.

Notably, the training partnership retained ownership, which adds another layer of motivation.

Looks a serious chance first-up.

Taka Speed

Now three-from-three this preparation after completing the hat-trick at Sandown.

The market was all over him late last start ($4 into $3), and he delivered accordingly.

This is another rise in grade to Benchmark 78 level, but he’s earned the opportunity, and the Hayes camp are elite at placing progressive types.

Sass Appeal

Backed as if unbeatable last start at Flemington ($2.40 into $2.00) and justified the confidence with an effortless win.

The Danny O’Brien yard are in excellent form and clearly have their systems humming.

Rock-hard fit now and likely even stronger late, looks very hard to beat again.

Justadeel

Another Team Hayes runner resuming after a strong previous preparation, winning two of five.

Has held his own in Stakes grade at his past two runs, and his first-up profile (5:1-1-2) suggests he’s well placed in this Listed assignment.

From gate 5, Jamie Melham can settle just behind the speed and unleash down the long Flemington straight.

Randwick Tips

Arabian Rose

An interesting Queensland raider who has attracted strong early support at longer odds.

Finished third of 13 at the Sunshine Coast last start, with impressive closing sectionals — notably her final 600m and 200m splits.

The decision to travel south suggests stable confidence is high.

If further money arrives late, expect she’s in the finish.

Savvy Hallie

Brad Widdup is never shy when he fancies one, and the ownership group behind this mare are equally keen when confidence is high.

She ran well above expectations when fourth in the rich Sunlight race on the Gold Coast behind Grafterburners.

The form stacks up strongly, and outside the favourite Apocalyptic, this race drops away in depth.

Well placed at Group 2 level.

Manaal

Classy mare who possesses a devastating turn of foot on her day.

She performs well fresh (5:1-1-1) and should be tuned up for this assignment.

From gate 5 she maps perfectly to enjoy cover just behind the leaders.

If the gaps come, she can explode late.

Sovereign Hill

Breathtaking last-start winner when heavily backed ($2.80 into $1.95) by professional money and never gave backers a scare.

This is a rise to Benchmark 88 grade with some hardened rivals engaged, but he profiles as a horse capable of climbing the ranks.

If Tim Clark can overcome the wide draw (gate 16) and find a forward position, he may simply race away with it again.
