Waller's got a Special one

This week we’ve again dissected all the key early market action at both major venues.
At Flemington, Damien Lane bookings have proven extremely popular, with significant market support for several of his rides.
Meanwhile at Randwick, another Chris Waller runner has been well backed to challenge the gun mare Autumn Glow.
A very intriguing betting development.

Watersports
Was heavily backed at Sandown last start before producing a sharp turn of foot from off the speed to win impressively.
The booking of Damien Lane is a major positive — he typically aligns himself with the best chances and is a worthy replacement for Craig Williams.
This is a rise to Benchmark 78 grade, but she strikes a relatively moderate field and appears talented enough to measure up again.
Ahaa Ahaa
Has been well supported at her past two starts, starting favourite on each occasion and running well without winning.
Her latest effort was strong after encountering traffic issues before finishing powerfully late.
From a stable known for accurate betting moves, any late support would suggest she’s ready to peak.
Bel Merci
Ciaron Maher runner who the stable have publicly identified as one of their better chances across the country this weekend.
She ran a solid third in Group 3 company at Caulfield over 1100m and remains at the same trip here.
The Flemington straight may suit her even better, allowing her to build momentum and show her true quality.
Air Assault
South Australian raider who wouldn’t be travelling without strong confidence from the stable.
He has had several Melbourne runs this preparation, and the persistence in targeting Victorian prize money is encouraging.
The Damien Lane booking is another key tick. When he commits, it’s usually with purpose.

Gerringong
The combination of Nash Rawiller, Gai Waterhouse and major ownership support is always formidable.
She wasn’t far away last start when beaten 3.5 lengths by Weeping Woman, a filly they rate highly.
From barrier 2, expect Nash to push forward and control proceedings.
If she gets her own way, she’ll take catching.
Aeliana
Produced a huge effort behind Autumn Glow last start, running on strongly and taking ground off the winner late.
The step up to 1600m looks ideal, and she should only improve as distances increase.
If the tempo is genuine and she gets a tow into the race, she has the talent to challenge the favourite.
Axius
Returns from a successful Magic Millions Day victory on the Gold Coast in high-prizemoney company.
The short freshen should have kept him sharp, and the stable’s decision to bring him straight back into Sydney Saturday grade signals confidence.
Appears to be thriving.
Mal Coupe
Has been the subject of several betting plunges recently, most of which have landed.
He was excellent here last start over 1000m, sitting outside the leader before kicking clear late.
The rise to 1200m looks ideal, and provided he isn’t pressured heavily early, he can control the race and prove difficult to reel in again.
