We found two gems last week across Randwick and Flemington, including Mal Coupe who saluted from an early quote of $5.00.

This week early money has again revealed a number of key moves in betting markets, and we’ve got all the major action covered at both key venues.

At Flemington, a Godolphin two-year-old stepping out to a more suitable 1400m trip has generated plenty of early interest from sharp punters.

Meanwhile at Randwick, the Moody/Coleman camp have travelled one north for a Group 1 raid, creating plenty of intrigue in betting.

Flemington Tips

Lagacy Bound

A first-up specialist (2:2-0-0) who appears to have been specifically prepared for this return assignment.

The stable love a bet and, while they may not always have large metropolitan numbers, when they do place one at this level it’s usually with purpose.

Barrier 8 shouldn’t pose any issue down the Flemington straight, where recent meetings have shown wider draws can actually be advantageous.

After Summer

An interesting long-priced move for Dominic Sutton, who continues to do an excellent job with a relatively small team.

The stable clearly hold this mare in high regard and aren’t shy about stepping in when one is showing something in trackwork.

The yard also have a strong involvement in the ownership, which can add another layer of motivation.

Zambales

Highly regarded Godolphin juvenile who came through the Group 1 Blue Diamond last start.

He finished strongly over the unsuitable 1200m at Caulfield and simply ran out of runway late.

The step up to 1400m looks ideal, and with Mark Zahra back aboard he should get every opportunity to show his class.

Ahaa Ahaa

From the Clinton McDonald yard, a stable known for landing a plunge when confidence is high.

She has been racing very well this preparation without winning and now finds a very suitable mares-only assignment.

Rock-hard fit now, and from barrier 5 she can settle closer and apply pressure from a long way out.

Randwick Tips

Agrarian Girl

The Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott two-year-old is considered one of their leading Golden Slipper prospects.

She should be fully wound up for this assignment and, typical of the stable, will likely roll forward and control proceedings.

If the track favours on-pace runners, she’ll be extremely hard to run down.

Quietness

Tough stayer who was outstanding last start in the Bendigo Cup, doing plenty of work and still finishing strongly.

While 1600m may appear short of his ideal distance first-up, the early support suggests he’s flying at home.

If the market firms again late, expect a bold showing.

Sheza Alibi

Could develop into one of the stars of the Autumn Carnival.

The Moody/Coleman team have brought her to Sydney for a crack at Group 1 level after a brilliant first-up victory.

Her preparation mirrors the same successful pattern from last campaign — a dominant win over 1400m followed by another strong performance at 1600m.

Spring Lee

Has the feel of a classic Kris Lees betting move.

She had a quiet first-up run when finishing eighth at Randwick but had a tick-over trial since, suggesting improvement is expected.

With early support already arriving from long odds ($21), any continued market momentum would be very significant.
