With Sydney metro racing shifting to the stand-alone Saturday meeting at Scone, we have all the significant early market action covered there and at Flemington.

At Flemington, support has arrived for two key Charlotte Littlefield runners who both appear excellent chances and could provide the stable with a race-to-race double.

Meanwhile at Scone, punters have honed in on an Emirates Park-owned runner who looks poised to explode stepping up in trip.

Flemington Tips

Autumn Charm

The Nick Ryan stable have resumed betting aggressively in recent weeks and have landed a number of successful plunges through the midweeks.

That confidence appears to have carried over here, with the market move suggesting the stable have again told the owners to bet up.

She was well supported at Ballarat last start and produced a strong effort to finish second, indicating she has plenty of upside. Expect further support late.

Brilliantezza

Was backed as if unbeatable on debut at Wangaratta ($3.50 into $2.30) and justified the confidence with a dominant two-length victory.

This is a clear rise to Saturday metro grade, but the timing looks ideal with many stronger winter carnival horses now campaigning in Queensland.

The Patrick Payne stable know when to bring one to town and this looks another calculated move.

Concorde Connie

Being touted as a potential star following a demolition job here last start over 1400m, where she simply toyed with her opposition.

Her closing sectionals were elite and compared favourably with older horses on the day, suggesting she is a filly destined for Group company.

If that assessment is correct, she should prove far too strong for this moderate off-season field.

Yes Yoshi

The Charlotte Littlefield stable look a strong chance to go back-to-back with another runner that appears ideally placed in weaker off-season company.

Nothing went right first-up at Bendigo where he endured a tough run and genuine excuses throughout.

That effort is a complete forgive, and with better luck here he profiles as one of the key improvers in the race.

Scone Tips

Cucina

As highlighted previously, the “Godolphin motivation factor” remains very real and applies strongly here.

Chris Waller will be highly motivated to produce results for the world’s premier ownership group and appears to have this horse primed to run well.

The market has quickly identified the opening price ($27) as overs, with sharp money stepping in heavily.

Just Response

The Nathan Doyle stable are flying and never shy away from a betting move when they have one going well.

This runner is chasing a hat-trick after a strong Newcastle victory and now gets the opportunity to step up in grade during the Scone carnival.

The booking of Ash Morgan is a major positive, with his local knowledge around Scone a significant advantage.

Amreekiya

Possesses a blistering turn of foot and looks ideally suited by the rise to 1700m.

The stable will have built the necessary fitness base at home to ensure she can absorb what may become a genuinely run race.

With Emirates Park heavily involved as major sponsors of the carnival, expect the stable to be highly motivated to deliver a result on their home track.

Bevs Nine

The infamous John O’Shea “suspension horse” who created headlines earlier in the preparation after being scratched at the barriers when heavily backed.

There is no doubting the horse’s talent, and the stable clearly believed he was set to win on that occasion.

The owners appear to have been told to bet up again here and will be eager to recoup what they feel was lost earlier in the campaign.
