This week we have both major venues covered, highlighting a number of significant early betting moves where trainer and owner motivation appears to be playing a major role in the market.

At Caulfield, both Godolphin and Yulong will be expecting big results, with their trainers under enormous pressure to deliver for these powerful ownership operations and secure more high-quality stock in the future.

Whilst at Randwick, on a massive Everest Day card, a James McDonald booking for Ciaron Maher has caught the attention of punters, with the champion rider partnering a filly who looks destined for much better races.

Caulfield Tips

Aragog

Huge motivation at play here for Phillip and Tommy Stokes, who have been entrusted with this runner by the influential Yulong operation.

The stable doesn't have an enormous number of opportunities with these high-profile owners, so delivering a result here could go a long way towards securing more quality horses in the future.

You would expect they have left absolutely no stone unturned in preparing this horse, with stable rider Lachie Neindorf likely to have been given very clear instructions to get the job done.

They certainly wouldn't want to arrive on a major Saturday card with a Yulong runner who wasn't showing them plenty at home.

The motivational alignment is enormous and the early market support suggests they have him ready to fire. Yes!

Fringilla

Yet another fascinating motivation play, this time involving the Hayes boys and powerhouse ownership group Godolphin.

The stable will be desperate to deliver a result for such an influential operation, while Ethan Brown also has every incentive to make the most of the opportunity.

She was excellent winning at Geelong last start over 1425m, starting favourite before absolutely destroying her rivals by more than three lengths.

That was a genuinely fast-run race and the form could prove particularly strong, especially given the authority of her victory.

With her natural tactical speed, expect Brown to be positive again and potentially take control from the front.

If she gets into a comfortable rhythm, she could simply run them off their feet.

The Godolphin factor is certainly in play again here, with the Hayes boys having another excellent opportunity to impress one of the most powerful ownership groups in world racing.

The stable hasn't had an enormous number of opportunities with Godolphin stock, making every winner particularly valuable when it comes to building that relationship.

You would expect they have left no stone unturned to have this mare ready to produce her best on a major Caulfield Cup Day card.

The booking of Mark Zahra is particularly telling. He is one of the most sought-after riders in Victoria and the type of jockey major stables want aboard when they believe they have one ready to win.

The motivational alignment is sky-high and the early money suggests the market is expecting a big performance.

War Machine

Was well-backed at a big price last start, suggesting the stable had him going particularly well, and it is no surprise to see punters having another crack at the opening price here.

His latest performance in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes was a complete forgive run after he over-raced badly and was trapped wide throughout.

That effort is best overlooked, particularly given the class of opposition he was taking on.

He should now have the freshness knocked out of him following two runs back and looks perfectly placed to produce a significant improvement.

The drop into Group 3 company is a major advantage and, if he settles more kindly this time, expect his superior class to shine through.

Randwick Tips

Saffron Veil

Ciaron Maher has a very smart filly on his hands here who looks well above average and potentially destined for Stakes success.

She was excellent winning at Canterbury last start, where she had to weave a passage through the field before accelerating away in a terrific display of race smarts.

That ability to overcome traffic and still find the line strongly is often the sign of a horse with plenty more improvement to come.

The Maher stable knows exactly what type of horse to bring to these major carnival meetings and will be particularly keen to make an impression on Everest Day.

The James McDonald booking screams yes! J Mac would have had plenty of options on such a massive program, so the fact he has landed on this progressive filly is an excellent lead.

Expect her to be extremely hard to beat.

So You Pence

Matthew Dale and the Kurrinda Bloodstock team have held a huge opinion of this horse for some time, identifying him as a genuine Kosciuszko contender early in his career.

He justified that confidence in last year's edition when producing an enormous performance to finish fifth of 14, beaten only 1.8 lengths.

There is every reason to believe he could be going even better this preparation after an outstanding victory over 1300m at Randwick last start, which helped secure his place in this year's race.

Dale is a very shrewd trainer who knows how to have one ready for a major target, and you would expect plenty of work has gone into ensuring this horse arrives at his peak.

This has all the hallmarks of a long-range plan coming together and a huge performance would not surprise.

Wanaruah

Loves to tough it out on speed and was excellent winning here last start, where his natural stamina and determination proved too strong for the opposition.

He is the type of horse who can make life extremely uncomfortable for his rivals when allowed to roll along and build momentum from the front.

Barrier 10 presents a challenge, but if they can work across without burning too much petrol, expect him to take up a prominent position and give an almighty kick approaching the straight.

It will take a very good sprinter coming from behind to run him down if he gets into his preferred rhythm.

The stable has a reputation for knowing when to have one ready, and the early support suggests they believe he has improved again since that latest victory.

Decorum

Shooting for the hat-trick after two dominant recent victories, including an impressive performance at Rosehill last start where he came from back in the field and produced a sustained finishing burst to put his rivals away.

He is clearly a horse thriving on his racing and the manner of those victories suggests there could still be plenty more under the bonnet.

Now rock-hard fit third-up, he should be ready to produce the best performance of his preparation.

There is every chance this Everest Day assignment has been the target all along, with the stable building him towards a peak performance on one of Sydney's biggest racing days.

If there is further improvement to come, he could unleash another devastating finish and complete the hat-trick.

Watch betting again very late!
