Betting Tips: Early Market Movers at Randwick & Caulfield 19/9/26

Some things never change, including our Early Market Movers having a Flemington fill up.

Both Lara Antipova and Paradoxium dominated their respective races and duly saluted.

This week we have both major venues covered, with all the big betting action highlighted below.

At Caulfield, the Hayes boys will be highly motivated to achieve success with one entrusted to them by powerhouse Coolmore, where there are signs this could have been the target race all along.

Whilst at Randwick, the O’Shea/Charlton stable have one engaged that has been the subject of one of the biggest early betting moves we have seen in recent times, crunched from $11 into $5.50!

 

 

 

Portinari

Huge motivation at play here for the Hayes boys, with this filly entrusted to their care by the influential Coolmore operation.

The stakes and expectations don't come much higher when training for such a powerful ownership group, where delivering results can only strengthen the opportunity to be allocated more high-quality stock in the future.

She has been good all preparation without winning and should now be rock-hard fit and ready to produce her best.

Has this been the target race all along?

 

American Eagle

Unbeaten colt for the powerful MyRacehorse ownership group who continue to find plenty of smart horses.

He was excellent winning here last start when getting the better of the highly regarded Unit Five, which should prove to be a very strong form reference.

Third-up now after two runs over 1200m, the timing looks perfect for the step to 1400m.

With the added fitness and extra distance, he could be even more dynamic late. Yes.

 

Zahrann

Clearly needed the run first-up over 1700m and that performance should have cleaned him out nicely for this step to 2000m.

The booking of Ethan Brown is an excellent sign, particularly given the options he generally has among the Ciaron Maher runners on a Saturday.

You would expect Maher has poured the work into him since that return and there appears to be a decent opinion of the horse behind closed doors.

Fitter, up in trip and with Brown aboard, he looks ready to show exactly what he has under the bonnet.

 

Regal Award

Was one of the headline horses of the Queensland Winter Carnival, winning the Group 3 Fred Best Classic before producing a huge performance in the Stradbroke when finishing seventh of 18.

He should still carry a strong residual fitness base from that Winter campaign and the fact Phillip Stokes is prepared to kick him off here suggests the horse is showing all the right signs at home.

There may be bigger targets ahead, but his residual fitness could allow him to return much more forward than some of his rivals.

If more money arrives inside the final few minutes of betting, confidence would increase significantly.

 

 

 

Headley Grange

Was excellent winning first-up here over the same 1400m journey when holding off the talented Soothsayer, who had the benefit of a fitness edge.

He should have taken significant improvement from that return and could be even more dynamic now with the run under his belt.

There looks to be plenty of speed engaged, which should play perfectly into his hands.

Expect him to sit back and watch the leaders cut at each other before building into the race and pouncing late.

 

Starzintheireyes

This has been one of the most fascinating early moves of the week and one of the bigger plunges we have seen in recent times, with $11 absolutely smashed into $5.50!

The O’Shea/Charlton stable know how to set one up and his first-up performance suggests he could be ready to peak now.

He was enormous last time out after being trapped wide without cover yet still having the audacity to keep coming, eventually missing by just 0.2 lengths.

That tough run should have brought him right on from a fitness perspective.

The market certainly hasn't missed him this time!

 

Striking Alibi

The J Mac factor and motivational alignment for Chris Waller are both significant here, with this runner raced by the prominent Surace family.

These are exactly the types of influential owners a major stable wants to continue delivering results for, particularly with more high-quality stock potentially coming through the system in future seasons.

Waller is likely to have her ready to take a major step forward second-up and the James McDonald booking only adds to the confidence.

Barrier five gives J Mac every opportunity to be much more positive this time. Expect them to come out with intent and secure a position much closer to the speed.

 

Marhoona

Must be absolutely flying at home to warrant such a severe gapping move on the very first fluctuation!

There is also significant motivational alignment with Emirates Park owning the horse and the stable naturally eager to continue producing results for an operation capable of supplying plenty of high-quality racing stock.

The strength of the early move raises the possibility that this has been the race they have targeted for her to peak.

A huge performance would not surprise.
