Vicious Betting Moves

This week we have both major venues covered, highlighting a number of vicious early betting moves which provide punters with an excellent market guide.
At Flemington, early shoppers have focused heavily on the J Mac bookings, hammering a number of his rides in what looks a particularly strong book for the champion jockey.
Whilst at Randwick, Ciaron Maher has declared one runner his best of the day, a profound statement considering the enormous number of horses his stable has entered right across the country!

Written Empire
The Hayes boys are simply flying and appear to have a very smart colt on their hands, with his first three career starts suggesting he is well above average.
The booking of J Mac creates enormous interest, as the stable seems particularly keen to secure the champion rider when they believe they have a very good one ready to fire.
He was excellent at Caulfield last start when slowly away and forced to overcome a less-than-ideal run, yet still fought on strongly to finish third of eight, beaten just 1.5 lengths.
With that experience under his belt, he should continue to improve and the early market support suggests the stable expects him to take another significant step forward.
Chayan
Wow! The reported purchase price of around $6 million AUD was absolutely eye-watering, and the motivational alignment to have this mare winning is simply sky-high!
She was a touch disappointing first-up before failing to deliver again last start, so the pressure is certainly building on the stable to justify the enormous investment made by her powerful Coolmore connections.
These are the types of owners who expect results, and the stable will be desperate to turn things around before the Spring Carnival slips away.
The J Mac booking adds another fascinating dimension. He has a strong association with Coolmore and every incentive to deliver a major result for such an influential ownership operation.
Expect him to give this mare an absolute peach of a ride, with the stable leaving no stone unturned to have her ready to produce her best.
Kizlyar
Fascinating runner from the famed Joseph O'Brien international operation, with the covers now coming off and the early market suggesting this horse is very highly regarded.
These significant early moves for the travelling internationals can be lethal, particularly when the stable has had time to assess how the horse has settled into Australian conditions.
Granted, the travel and unfamiliar surroundings are always challenges, but the strength of the support suggests he may have been showing them plenty at the Werribee training facility.
If he has handled the trip and brings his best European form, he could simply prove far too classy for this opposition.
Watch betting again very late!
Soverato
Chris Waller's Sydney raider was excellent at Randwick last start behind the smart Unleeshing, and that form should stack up particularly well here.
She was charging home over the Randwick mile, which appeared too short for her, and the step to 2040m looks absolutely ideal.
With the extra distance and a longer opportunity to build through her gears, expect her to be much more dynamic over the concluding stages.
Waller third-up screams yes! There is every chance this has been the target race all along, with the stable timing her preparation to perfection.
Look for her steaming home over the top late. Yes.

Royal Ascot
Team Hawkes may not be enjoying the same level of dominance as in previous years, but they can still produce a very smart horse when the right one comes along.
That could be the case here with this son of boom stallion Home Affairs, who races in the ownership of prominent fund manager Neil Werrett.
Werrett has been a significant supporter of the stable and will naturally expect a return on his investment, creating strong motivational alignment for the Hawkes operation.
You would expect the stable has put plenty of work into this runner and would be particularly keen to deliver a result for such an influential owner.
The early money suggests strong confidence in his chances, and it wouldn't surprise if connections have received a very positive report on how he is progressing at home.
Ciaron's Star
Ciaron Maher has reportedly declared this mare his best of the day right across the country, which is an enormous statement considering the sheer number of runners his stable has engaged!
Maher rarely gives one such a strong push without good reason, and the early market has certainly taken notice.
She looks ideally suited to settle back behind the speed and, provided they run along at a genuine tempo, should get every opportunity to build into the race.
With clear running, expect her to be sailing down the outside of the Randwick straight and charging over the top late.
The fact the stable also nominated her in Melbourne suggests they have been particularly careful in finding the right assignment, another excellent indication that she is ready to produce her best.
If Ciaron is this confident, it certainly pays to take notice!
Plymouth
Interesting runner who was excellent in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over 1600m last start, where he continued to make ground strongly to finish fourth of 16 and appeared to simply run out of runway.
The rise to 1800m looks perfect for this progressive stayer, who possesses a very good turn of foot and may eventually prove even better over longer distances.
Barrier three gives him every opportunity to enjoy an economical run. They shouldn't have to spend a cent early, allowing him to settle just behind the leading division and conserve plenty of energy.
From there, expect him to peel into clear running and unleash hell over the final 200m.
The Zac Lloyd booking is another significant positive. With J Mac riding in Melbourne, Lloyd would have had plenty of options at Randwick and the fact he has landed here suggests he likes what he sees.
Mindgames
Fascinating runner and an equally interesting early betting move for the O'Shea/Charlton operation, a stable that certainly knows how to have one ready when the money arrives.
He brings Newcastle form into this assignment, but don't underestimate the stable's ability to identify a suitable race and have a horse peaking at exactly the right time.
He was absolutely smashed in betting at Newcastle last start, firming from $2.40 into $1.80 late, before things failed to go entirely to plan after he was bumped at a crucial stage.
That performance is worth forgiving and the fact the money has arrived again suggests connections believe there is plenty more to come.
He profiles as the big improver and, if another wave of support arrives inside the final few minutes of betting, expect him to be fighting out the finish.
