This week we have both major venues covered with all the significant market moves, in what represents an excellent early betting guide for punters.

At Flemington, Ciaron Maher switches a runner from his Sydney base to tackle a “golden ticket” Melbourne Cup event… which looks to have been the plan all along!

Whilst at Randwick, punters are all over the gun NZ raider who remains undefeated and is looking to target Sydney riches at Group 1 level.

Flemington Tips

Miss Waititi

Craig Williams booked for the Price/Kent stable is always a great sign, as Craig does plenty of homework and would be well aware of how this mare is progressing heading into Saturday.

She was well-backed at Seymour last start from $4 into $3.30, where she wasn't far off the winner when finishing third of seven in what may prove to be a strong form race.

The fact they are prepared to bring her straight to town now to tackle genuine Saturday grade is an excellent guide to the stable's confidence.

If more money arrives late, expect her to be right in the finish.

Piggyback

Has been switched to Melbourne following her recent racing at Randwick by the shrewd Ciaron Maher stable, and there looks to be plenty of intent behind the move.

The yard will undoubtedly have one eye on the free ticket into the Melbourne Cup available through this race, which raises the question of whether this has been the target from a long way out.

Maher pulled off a similar move only a few weeks ago with Shocklet winning another “golden ticket” race to secure her place in the Cup, and it wouldn't surprise if he is following a similar formula here.

Expect her to be cherry ripe.

Skybird

Possesses one of the most lethal turns of foot going around and, given the right race shape, can come from a long way back and blow away virtually any grade of field.

The key is tempo. She needs the speed on and a nice tow into the race, but she may get exactly that here with Hedged and Winnasedge among the runners capable of ensuring they roll along.

If the leaders cut at each other and set this up for the swoopers, she becomes extremely dangerous.

Look for her steaming home very late over the top!

Ten Commandments

Has raced extremely well throughout the Winter and, although he has been up for an eternity, that also means he should be one of the fittest horses in this field and capable of applying pressure from a long way out.

He was excellent winning the Ballarat Gold Nugget last start, where he was caught wide and forced to press forward yet was still far too good in what looked a strong field for the venue.

From gate 3 and with his tactical speed, they hold all the aces. He can lead or take the perfect sit just behind them before ripping home again late.

Randwick Tips

De Armas

The Chris Waller/Zac Lloyd combination is flying, with Lloyd continuing to build his influence within the stable and picking up an increasing number of quality rides.

She did enough over 1200m at Warwick Farm last start where the distance was simply too sharp, yet she still continued to grind home strongly from a rearward position.

The jump to 1600m looks perfect. She won't need to be bustled early and should have plenty of time to build through her gears.

Expect her to be one of the big improvers of the day.

Pinhole

Waller third-up screams yes! The progression to 2400m looks perfect and there is every chance this has been the target race all along.

She had plenty of excuses at Rosehill last start over 1900m after encountering a chequered passage, yet was still good enough to overcome the trouble and win.

Now rock-hard fit, given a more charmed passage and stepping out to a genuine staying trip, she could be even more dynamic.

She can win again. Yes.

Well Written

Gun New Zealand mare who the market clearly expects to measure right up to Sydney Group 1 company, with an avalanche of support arriving from the opening price.

It takes a significant amount of money to create this sort of movement in a major Group 1 market, making the early price action particularly interesting.

New Zealand form doesn't always translate perfectly across the Tasman, but she has been enormously impressive in building her unbeaten record and arrives with a huge reputation.

If she brings that same dominance to Randwick, she could announce herself as a serious star.

Watch betting again very late!

Tempted

Gun mare who was ultra-dominant as a three-year-old and appears to have returned at four even more dynamic, winning the Concorde Stakes first-up with ease.

She has established herself among the leading sprinters of her generation and another dominant performance here would only intensify the discussion around how she measures up heading towards The Everest.

Barrier 11 should be of little concern given her natural get-back racing pattern. She can drift across, find cover and be allowed plenty of room to build momentum approaching the straight.

If she gets that clear air, look for her sweeping down the outside and charging over the top late.
