This week we have identified where the smart money is flowing in early markets, with a number of prices picked off at both major venues.

At Caulfield, Anthony and Sam Freedman have a colt they must absolutely love, throwing him straight into the deep end at Group 1 level after just two career starts!

Whilst at Rosehill, Team Hawkes have a number of well-backed chances, including a fascinating filly whose debut victory at Warwick Farm suggested she could be something very special.

Caulfield Tips

Pinhole

Featured in our Market Movers last week before being scratched and saved for this assignment, which makes the placement even more interesting.

Waller third-up screams yes! The step to 2400m looks ideal and there is every chance this has been the target race all along.

She had plenty of excuses at Rosehill last start over 1900m after encountering a chequered passage, yet was still good enough to overcome the trouble and win.

Now rock-hard fit, with a more charmed passage and the rise in distance, she could be even more dynamic and win again. Yes!

Point Barrow

Loves to sit back, smoke the pipe and unleash hell on them over the final 200m, and the race shape here could play perfectly into her hands.

She was excellent in the How Now Stakes at Caulfield last start, rounding them up late to defeat a very smart galloper in Bridal Waltz.

That was the performance of a mare absolutely flying, and when these talented swoopers find this sort of form, they can often string together a few victories in quick succession.

Provided they run along at a genuine tempo and she gets a nice tow into the race, expect her to be steaming home over the top again!

Call Me Coach

Fascinating runner for Anthony and Sam Freedman who remains unbeaten after a debut victory in a Hawkesbury Super Maiden before absolutely destroying his rivals at Cranbourne.

Those Sydney Super Maidens are rarely easy to win and often prove an excellent form reference, so his debut victory may have been a much stronger performance than it initially appeared.

He was then hammered in betting at Cranbourne, starting a $1.35 favourite before winning accordingly and giving nothing else a chance.

The Freedmans clearly hold an enormous opinion of this colt, as you simply don't throw an unbeaten horse into Group 1 company after two starts unless you believe he has the talent to measure up.

This is a massive leap in grade, but the stable confidence and early market support suggest he could be something special.

War Machine

Gun sprinter on his day who possesses the class and toughness to stretch out over more ground when required.

He drops back sharply from Group 1 company after a complete forgive run in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, where he was caught wide and forced to cover plenty of extra ground.

The return to Listed grade is significant and, although he has been asked to carry a hefty 61kg, that weight reflects the class advantage he holds over much of this field.

Given a more economical run, expect him to be the big improver and have his class shine through against lesser opposition.

Rosehill Tips

Chuchichaschtli

We haven't seen many more impressive debut performances recently than this filly's victory at Warwick Farm, where she showed enormous tenacity to fight all the way to the line and get the job done.

The Hawkes yard must hold a huge opinion of her to throw her into such a significant rise in grade against some of the better three-year-olds going around.

She looks ideally suited to the tight-turning Rosehill circuit, where barrier two gives her every opportunity to secure the perfect run just behind the leaders before presenting at the right time.

There is clearly plenty of upside here and the early support suggests the market expects her to take another big step forward.

If more money arrives close to start time, expect her to be right in the finish.

Satono Glow

Gun three-year-old filly who stamped herself as a potential Spring star with an ultra-dynamic first-up victory down the Flemington straight.

The frightening part for her rivals is that she was only first-up on that occasion and should have taken significant natural improvement from the run.

Granted, this is a much deeper contest with quality right across the field, but she is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting fillies of her generation.

Interestingly, the stable has elected to take on the gun colts here rather than search for an easier assignment against her own sex.

That placement screams confidence and suggests they believe she belongs right at the top level.

Sylph

Gun mare who campaigned throughout the Queensland Winter Carnival and has returned with an encouraging third of 10 at Randwick, suggesting she is right on track for another big preparation.

The rise to 1200m looks ideal and the soft draw in barrier one gives her every opportunity to enjoy an economical run.

Expect her to hug the rail, relax just worse than midfield and conserve plenty of energy before weaving a passage through late.

I particularly like the Zac Lloyd booking. He is riding with enormous confidence and is now in a position to be increasingly selective with his Saturday rides.

With the fitness improvement and perfect draw, expect her to be charging home late.

Fierce*

Won first-up at Warwick Farm in Benchmark company before producing another excellent performance at Canterbury, where he was trapped wide throughout yet still had the audacity to keep grinding away and finish second of 10.

He appears as tough as teak and has shown a genuine willingness to fight under pressure, which is always a great attribute when stepping into stronger Saturday company.

Now third-up, he should be rock-hard fit and ready to peak, while the race itself appears to lack genuine depth.

Given even luck in running, expect him to be one of the strongest over the concluding stages and right in the finish.

Please note: The early betting move for Fierce has been affected by a scratching, so the price action should be treated with some caution.
