Brad Davidson heads to Ipswich on Wednesday with a couple of runners that look set to improve sharply if they can reproduce their best form.

With Ipswich often rewarding horses that map well and handle the tighter circuit, his selections focus on runners who either bring strong trial form or are coming off runs that can be forgiven.

Brad Davidson – Ipswich Midweek Best Bets 29/4/26

Best Bets

Race 3 – #12 Urban Lad

Urban Lad is the type of horse that has shown enough at the trials to suggest there is ability there, but he is yet to fully translate that to race day.

His most recent trial was particularly impressive, showing sharp speed and a strong finish, which indicates he may have taken the necessary step forward this preparation.

If he can reproduce that level of performance under race conditions, he has the talent to measure up here.

The key for him will be whether he can bring that trial intensity into race day pressure, but if he does, he is more than capable of running a big race at odds.

Race 4 – #5 Concession

Concession looks well placed to bounce back after a run that had more merit than it appears on paper.

He was forced to work mid-race while caught wide last start, which took its toll late, but the run prior was strong and showed the level he can produce when given the right setup.

Importantly he has already proven himself at the 1200m, which is a key advantage over some of his main rivals and from the map he should be able to settle in a much more economical position.

If he gets the right run in transit and doesn’t have to do the extra work he did last start, he looks well placed to return to his best and prove hard to beat.
