Brad Davidson heads to Sandown Hillside expecting a competitive program with several races looking wide open from a betting perspective.

With the rail back in the True position and plenty of lightly raced horses engaged throughout the card, Davidson believes there are opportunities to find value runners capable of outperforming market expectations.

He has identified one at double-figure odds in the opener, while also siding with a progressive galloper in Race 3 who looks suited by the likely race shape.

Brad Davidson – Sandown Hillside Saturday Tips 23/5/26

Value Bets

Race 1 – #9 Nightingale Lass

Nightingale Lass profiles as an interesting value play to kick off the meeting.

She impressed in a recent trial where she ran sharp time and, more importantly, did it in a manner that suggested she has genuine ability.

This looks a very open race without a standout runner and Davidson believes the market may have underestimated her upside heading into debut day.

If she can reproduce anything close to her trial performance under race conditions, she looks capable of making an immediate impact at attractive odds.

Race 3 – #12 Brass In Pocket

Brass In Pocket looks well placed to run a bold race.

Last start at Caulfield she stuck on strongly despite racing nearer the inside section of the track, which Davidson felt was clearly inferior ground on the day.

The map here looks favourable with limited tempo expected and she should be able to work forward into a prominent position without burning too much energy early.

With the light weight and race setup likely to suit, she shapes as the type of runner that could prove difficult to run down in the straight.
