Spring racing continues to deliver, and last Saturday was another cracking day with seven winners across Sandown and Randwick, including three of the free tips.

The highlight came in the Group 1 Moir Stakes, where My Gladiola landed the top selection at $11.60, defeating Cavalry Girl, Natural Fling and Extragalactic.

The Sandown meeting was abandoned following the Moir, with the Group 3 Chautauqua Stakes moved to Wednesday where Warnie swooped home to score.

Randwick also produced some important spring form through its four Group 2 features, with Bangkok Hottie, Headley Grange, Tempted and Lindermann all getting the job done.

Now we head back to Flemington, a meeting I look forward to every year and one where the confidence levels are high.

The Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes headlines the card, with Mr Brightside chasing an incredible fourth consecutive victory in the race.

Hot favourite Sheza Alibi presents a huge challenge, while Sir Delius resumes with Craig Williams aboard and adds even more quality to a terrific weight-for-age contest.

Rosehill also serves up a strong program featuring the Run To The Rose, Sheraco Stakes, Theo Marks Stakes and Ming Dynasty Stakes.

With a mixture of horses resuming and others already into their preparations, there are plenty of form lines to dissect and value opportunities to find.

Last week was good. This Saturday the confidence isn't lacking either. Bring it on!

Around The Grounds with Daniel Pryor – Flemington & Rosehill 12/9/26

Flemington

Race 2 – #4 Big Wigs – $4.80

The spacious Flemington circuit should really suit Big Wigs.

He gets to 1400m for the first time, which looks no issue, and the long straight gives him plenty of time to balance before building through his gears.

He's had a trial either side of a good first-up performance and should now be cherry ripe second-up.

With clear running when they straighten, expect him to be winding up strongly late.

Race 3 – #2 Satono Glow – $5.00

Satono Glow draws wide for the Flemington straight course, which could prove to be an advantage depending on how the track is playing.

He's already a winner down the straight over 1200m and that previous experience is a positive.

He possesses a good turn of foot and should be able to let down strongly over the concluding stages.

Race 3 – #14 Over Excited – $4.00

Over Excited faces a sharp rise in grade at just his second career start, but there was plenty to like about his debut.

He raced wide throughout in a slowly run race before showing an impressive change of speed to put his opposition away, and importantly wasn't fully extended late.

There's clearly more under the bonnet.

He's bred to have ability, being out of a Group 1 and multiple Group 2 winner, and the jockey sticks after that impressive debut.

The wide draw could also prove beneficial down the Flemington straight.

Race 4 – #3 Big Sky – $4.60

Previous experience down the Flemington straight can be invaluable, and Big Sky is one of only two runners in this field to have already raced and won over the course.

He looks to have returned in excellent order for his three-year-old campaign, winning a trial before finishing another hit-out strongly in preparation for this return.

If he does everything right first-up, Big Sky should be right in the finish.

Race 9 – #8 On Display – $9.00

It has been 53 weeks since On Display last won, but this looks a great opportunity for her to break that drought.

The five-year-old resumes after two trials only a week apart, and both were strong enough to suggest she's ready to make her presence felt immediately.

Her first-up record is solid and she is rarely far away when racing against her own sex.

She is yet to win from four attempts at Flemington, but three of those have resulted in third placings, showing she handles the track.

At around $9, On Display represents good value fresh.

Rosehill

Race 8 – #5 Warwoven – $8.50

Warwoven should take plenty of improvement from his first-up fifth.

The additional 100m looks a positive and, if he can settle properly and conserve his energy through the early stages, he'll get his opportunity to finish the race off strongly.

I'm expecting a significant step forward second-up.

At around $8.50, Warwoven is a nice value play.

Race 9 – #6 Skyhook – $2.90

Skyhook resumes with some strong first-up and Rosehill form behind him.

The wide barrier isn't ideal on paper, but he has enough tactical speed to roll forward and find a position near the lead.

If he can get across without doing too much work and dictate terms near the speed, Skyhook could prove very difficult to run down fresh.

Race 9 – #2 Militarize – $12.00

Militarize gets a race shape that could put him within striking distance when the pressure goes on.

He should be able to settle close enough without being dragged into the early battle, giving him the opportunity to conserve energy before unleashing the strong finishing burst we know he possesses.

The Chris Waller and James McDonald combination is another major positive.

At around $12, Militarize is one I'm keen to include at value.
