Last Saturday's Queensland Oaks proved a memorable result for followers of our article, with Fireball Miss saluting in the Group 1 feature for trainer Ciaron Maher and jockey Declan Bates.

It got even better for readers who followed the race selections closely, with Panova and Paltrow Miss filling the minor placings.

A $6 trifecta investment returned a healthy $436.20, making it one of the standout results of the carnival so far.

The Group 1 action continues at Eagle Farm this weekend with two of Queensland's biggest races taking centre stage.

The Stradbroke Handicap brings together a deep and competitive field over 1400m, while the JJ Atkins will see the best juveniles battle it out over a testing mile.

Tron Bolt heads betting for the JJ Atkins and it's easy to see why.

The Chris Waller-trained colt has looked increasingly impressive this preparation and now gets James McDonald aboard.

The rise from 1300m to 1600m appears ideal and he shapes as the horse they all have to beat.

The Stradbroke Handicap looks far more open. With plenty of chances in the market and several runners quoted at attractive odds, there looks to be genuine value available for punters prepared to shop around.

My top four selections all represent strong chances in what shapes as one of the most competitive races of the Brisbane Carnival.

Away from the Group 1 features, Eagle Farm also hosts a stack of quality support races, including the Group 2 HKJC World Pool Q22 where Pride Of Jenni steps out to 2200m for the first time.

Despite being run down by Birdman last start, she still looks capable of controlling the race from the front and will make for fascinating viewing.

Sandown Hillside and Rosehill round out another strong Saturday of racing, with plenty of opportunities for value seekers.

Around The Grounds – Daniel Pryor Horse Racing Tips & Selections 13/6/26

Sandown Hillside

Race 6

No.1 Beast Mode ($8.50)

Looks capable of taking control of the race fresh. He has the speed to roll forward and potentially lead, while his first-up record is excellent. Two recent trials suggest he's ready to perform and the apprentice claim only strengthens his chances.

No.14 Landmark ($7)

Has returned in terrific order with two placings from two runs this campaign. Looks close to a breakthrough win and gets some weight relief here, which should help.

Race 7

No.7 Skippers Canyon ($5.50)

Has been knocking on the door all preparation and rarely runs a poor race. The rise to 2400m is the unknown, but he appears close to peak fitness and looks capable of handling the trip.

No.1 Black Run ($18)

Also nominated for Rosehill but wherever he runs he should be competitive. He showed strong staying ability last campaign, continues to improve with racing and looks over the odds.

Rosehill

Race 2

No.9 She Swings ($6.50)

Second-up and ready to improve. The expected race tempo should suit her pattern and allow her to settle quietly before finishing strongly late.

Race 8

No.4 Caboche ($7.50)

One of the more seasoned runners in the field and comes off a solid closing effort last start. Meets a key rival slightly better at the weights and can be in the finish again.

Race 9

No.9 Swiftie Harriet ($7)

Crosses the border from Victoria and comes off a run that was better than it looked at Flemington. With a genuine tempo expected, she should get every chance to finish strongly.

Eagle Farm

Race 4

No.2 Skyhook ($3.50)

Steps to 1600m for the first time and that looks a positive. His form around quality horses reads strongly and he should be right in the finish.

No.10 Within The Law ($3.10)

Produced a powerful finishing burst last start and the extra 200m should suit perfectly. Deserves her place near the top of betting.

Race 5

No.6 Barber ($10)

Had little luck last start when searching for runs at crucial stages. Scratched from last week's assignment to target this race and looks well placed at double-figure odds.

No.13 Golden Straand ($4)

Three wins from three starts at the distance is difficult to ignore. Was beaten as favourite last start but lost no admirers and can bounce straight back.

No.8 Fire Star ($13)

Drawn to get a soft run throughout and only needs the gaps at the right time to make his presence felt.

Race 7 – Group 1 JJ Atkins

No.4 Tron Bolt ($2.10)

The Chris Waller-trained colt has been one of the standout two-year-olds of the Brisbane Carnival. James McDonald takes the ride and the rise to 1600m looks ideal based on his recent performances.

Race 8 – Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap

No.3 Private Eye ($16)

No.12 Warnie ($21)

No.8 Transatlantic ($11)

No.1 Fangirl ($7)

A wide-open Group 1 and one where value looks plentiful. These are my top four selections in the feature.
