The countdown to the Spring Carnival continues this weekend with the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes headlining a quality program at Caulfield, while Randwick once again serves up a competitive card packed with value for punters.

The Bletchingly Stakes always provides an early glimpse at potential spring contenders, and this year's edition is no exception.

Former Perth galloper Cosmic Crusader adds plenty of intrigue first-up for the Andrea Leek stable, while Winnasedge is chasing a rare Sir John Monash Stakes/Bletchingly Stakes double.

Graeme Begg also has a strong hand with Miraval Rose and Samangu among the leading hopes.

Over in Sydney, Randwick offers another deep program where finding value rather than simply following favourites could prove the key to a profitable afternoon.

Here are my best bets from both meetings.

Daniel Pryor's Around The Grounds – Caulfield & Randwick 25/7/26

Caulfield

Track: Soft 6
Rail: Out 10m Entire Circuit

Race 6 – #3 Brillantezza

Brillantezza is a filly heading in the right direction after putting together consecutive victories and looks capable of making it three in a row.

She displayed plenty of stamina when winning last start and did it despite still racing a little green in the straight. That suggests there's further improvement to come.

This is a stronger race, but she maps to get every opportunity to settle and finish off strongly. If she continues her upward trajectory, she'll take plenty of beating.

Race 8 – #6 Stop The Rock

Stop The Rock looks well placed from an ideal draw and should enjoy a perfect run in transit.

He hit the line well for third last time and boasts an excellent record at both the course and distance. The expected Soft track also suits his racing pattern.

With a patient ride and clear running at the right time, he shapes as one of the better plays on the Caulfield program.

Randwick

Track: Soft 7
Rail: +11m from the 1100m to the Winning Post, +8m for the remainder

Race 2 – #10 Hurry Miss

Hurry Miss represents terrific value despite stepping up to an untested distance.

She should settle just behind the speed from a favourable position and enjoy an economical run throughout. If she sees out the trip, she has the ability to surprise at attractive odds.

The Soft 7 surface is another positive and makes her a genuine each-way chance.

Race 4 – #4 Sequista

Sequista gets another opportunity to break through at Randwick after four previous attempts.

Barrier three should allow for a soft run, while the anticipated genuine tempo is expected to suit her finishing burst.

She has been consistently around the mark this preparation and this looks a suitable race to finally add a Randwick victory to her record.

Race 6 – #3 Sly Boots

Sly Boots drops back into a grade where he's previously excelled, including a dominant two-length victory at this level.

He should now be nearing peak fitness this campaign and maps to either lead or settle prominently in a race where he can control proceedings.

If he gets his own way in front, he'll be extremely difficult to reel in.

Last Week's Results

It was another profitable weekend with nine winners on the board, highlighted by Piastri's outstanding $12.70 victory along with a $59.50 quinella, $108.80 exacta and massive $950.90 trifecta.

The free selections also delivered with Changing Colours ($4.60) and Bold Soul ($5.60) both saluting.

Good luck and giddy up, Punters!
