The Yearling Sales have dominated the racing landscape through the opening month of 2026, with the Karaka Millions wrapping up earlier this week and once again delivering plenty of intrigue.

The standout was the winner of the Karaka Millions 3YO, Well Written, a filly by Written Tycoon out of Mozzie Monster (Sebring), who looks every bit a potential star.

It will be fascinating to see whether she eventually makes her way to Australian soil for the major targets ahead.

 

 

Earlier on the Karaka card, Queensland trainer Liam Birchley added yet another chapter to his remarkable record in the 2YO Karaka Millions, with Dream Roca taking out the juvenile feature under Ben Thompson.

Birchley’s history in the race is exceptional, having also prepared Sister Havana (2010) and Hardline (2015) to win, while Sarge In Charge finished second back in 2009.

 

 

This weekend, attention turns back to Caulfield, hosting two Group 3 contests, while Rosehill stages a strong card featuring three Group 3 races.

With competitive fields across both venues, I’m confident there’s genuine value to be found, particularly as we edge closer to the Autumn Carnival.
