That said, how much falls and when will determine just how testing it gets.

Best Bet – Race 4 No.3 NEW YORK LUSTRE

She looks a star in the making this mare and resumes here off two sharp jumpouts.

Won like a jet first-up last prep, clocking smart figures at this track.

Then franked that with another dominant win at Flemington, again running slick time.

She cops a big weight taking on the boys but has class and upside.

 

Best Value – Race 6 No.9 VERDOUX

He was all over the shop fresh – quite literally – when running out late and throwing the win away, but it was still a strong return behind a well-fancied winner.

Blinkers go on now, which looks the key.

And second-up last prep he beat Barbaric Lad, who is the early favourite in this race.

We get double figures here for a horse with winning credentials.
