All ratings for CAULFIELD are for a GOOD track with the rail back in the TRUE position.
The rail was out 9 metres last week, where runners edged away from the inside as the day progressed, particularly in the straight where the better ground was beyond the middle of the track by late in the program.
The previous meeting with the rail in the True position played fairly, with no disadvantage on-speed early before a similar pattern emerged of runners shifting away from the inside later in the day.
With S-SW winds expected to pick up, runners may face a breeze down the side and across them in the straight, which could again influence where the better ground is as the meeting unfolds.

BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD – Race 9 No.1 – PLANET RED
Produced an outstanding finish in both runs this preparation.
First-up he recorded the fastest last 200m of the day, and last start he again stormed home behind a very good horse in the same race.
He has always shaped as though he will relish stepping up to 2000m, and this looks the ideal setup for him.
Clear top pick.
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD – Race 2 No.10 – ZIBULON
Returned well when just missing behind Hurry Curry, who subsequently ran well in the Adelaide Cup, while also beating home Bluestone.
He didn’t finish off in the Adelaide Cup himself, but now drops back to 2400m, which looks much more suitable.
At around $16 he profiles as overs in this field.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD – Race 10 No.10 – TAUNG
Had no luck first-up at Wangaratta, racing tight throughout yet still managing to win carrying 60kg.
He also ran well in the VOBIS Guineas at Caulfield last year despite covering ground.
This is a tough race, but he looks over the odds around $21 and has the form to measure up.
