Caulfield hosts a strong program with the rail out 9 metres and the surface likely to slip into the Soft range with rain predicted across Friday and race morning.

The track played superbly in the 6-metre position last meeting, and despite the move out, should remain fair.

One factor worth noting: strong south-westerlies are forecast, meaning runners will face the wind down the side before it turns into a cross-breeze in the home straight. Positioning and cover may be crucial.

David Gately Horse Racing Tips for Caulfield 29/11/25

Gator’s Bet of the Day

Race 5 – No.1 DIFFERENT GRAVY

Different Gravy has always profiled as a genuine staying improver, and his last two runs confirm he’s trending the right way.

He powered home in the Hill Smith Stakes despite the gaps behind being significant, then went to Flemington and rounded them up stylishly once out.

Both of those performances came at his only attempts beyond a mile and he’s thrived each time.

Racing like 2000m is perfect, he draws ideally and the likely Soft footing holds no fears.

He’s the one they have to beat.

Best Value Bet

Race 10 – No.2 ROYAL INSIGNIA

Royal Insignia continues to race well without luck.

He rattled home in the Moonga Stakes from an impossible position, then again charged late when dropping back to 1200m at Flemington.

He’s proven on Soft ground, maps for a more economical run here, and the $15 on offer looks far too generous provided conditions don’t deteriorate into the heavy range.

Live value play.
