Flemington returns to a Good surface with the rail in the True position after racing at 9 metres last meeting.
The track played well overall, although strong west-southwest winds heavily influenced the straight races, with runners beyond the middle of the track advantaged.
Lighter winds are forecast this Saturday, which should allow the famous straight to play more evenly.
All ratings are assessed specifically for a Good track, and the spacious Flemington layout again shapes as a key factor.
Track: Randwick
Condition: Good
Rail: Out 4m
David Gately – Flemington Best Bets 14/2/26
Best Bet
Race 9 – No.2 SIXTIES
Was outstanding fresh, putting older horses away with the fastest final 600m and 200m of the entire meeting (33.02 / 11.12) while doing it comfortably.
He now rises to 1400 metres, drops back to his own age, and gets to the big Flemington track which looks ideal for his racing style.
Clear top selection.
Best Value
Race 2 – No.5 SUNSETS
Loved the way he hit the line fresh for the new stable against the pattern.
Then was again strong second-up from a difficult draw, beating home runners such as Touchdown and Yes I Know, form that ties in well here.
Draws better, gets to 2000 metres, and looks a genuine value play around double figures.
