David Gately heads to Flemington expecting rain-affected conditions after significant rainfall through Thursday and only limited drying conditions into raceday.

With the rail pushed out to 8m and recent meetings showing runners wanting to get away from the inside lanes, track pattern could again play a major role as the day progresses.

Proven wet trackers and horses capable of sustaining long runs look the types to focus on.

Track Conditions

• Expected Surface: Soft / Heavy range
• Rail Position: 8m
• Weather: Significant rain prior to raceday with limited drying expected

David Gately – Flemington Best Bets 6/6/26

Bet Of The Day

Race 4 – #3 Wise Inlaw

Wise Inlaw looks capable of going back-to-back.

The drop back to 1200m last start worked perfectly as he comfortably accounted for a quality field and did it with authority.

That form has already stacked up strongly with Milos Filos, who finished behind him, returning to win impressively at his next outing.

He rises 2.5kg here but looks to have found another level this preparation and importantly maps to get conditions to suit again.

If he reproduces his latest figure, he’ll be very hard to beat.

Best Value Bet

Race 3 – #13 Miss Revealing

Miss Revealing appeals at the price.

Her Mornington run had plenty of merit with the form around that race continuing to strengthen, particularly through Grand Omaha who has since gone north and performed strongly at Group level.

Last start she had excuses after racing in restricted room at a key stage before charging late through a deep race.

Wet ground is another positive and with conditions likely to suit perfectly, Gately believes she looks over the odds.

Best Roughie Of The Day

Race 5 – #1 Miss Aria

Miss Aria profiles as the blowout runner.

She has been racing consistently in stronger races than this and had little luck two starts ago before again racing on the wrong part of the track at Sandown.

Several horses around her recent form lines are targeting major Queensland races and this doesn’t look any harder.

She loves rain-affected ground and if the market overlooks her again, she could surprise at big odds.
