David Gately – Gosford Best Bets 9/5/26
Bet Of The Day
Gosford Race 6 – #10 King Of The Sea
King Of The Sea looks very well placed stepping up in trip.
His Australian debut had plenty of merit after settling back before making strong ground through inferior going.
Despite the conditions not suiting, he still produced one of the better late sectionals on the program, indicating there was significant merit in the performance.
The rise to 2100m looks ideal and the drop in weight only strengthens his profile.
Importantly, Gately believes firmer ground will suit him much better and with natural improvement second-up in Australia, he profiles as the runner to beat.
Best Roughie Of The Day
Gosford Race 8 – #4 On Display
On Display looks the forgotten horse in the market and appeals as a strong roughie play.
Two runs back the conditions were simply too wet for him, while last start in Adelaide he had no luck at all, spending much of the straight searching for clear running before charging late once balanced up.
The run was much better than it reads on paper and his previous Group 1 Empire Rose placing shows he has the talent to measure up in races of this quality.
Back onto firmer ground and with better luck in transit, Gately believes he can bounce back in a big way at attractive odds.
