Randwick shapes as a fascinating betting surface this Saturday.

While the track is still officially rated Soft 7 mid-week, a run of fine, warm weather should see it upgrade into the Good range by race time.

The rail moves out to 6 metres, and that’s a key change.

At the latest meeting with the rail only 1m, speed was king—eight of ten winners were on-pace.

Prior to that, with the rail at 4m, the track played more evenly, though runners still preferred being off the hard inside late in the day.

With the rail now out further and the surface firming, expect forward positioning to remain a clear advantage, especially if the inside chops out again.

David Gately – Randwick Best Bets Preview

Bet of the Day – Randwick

Race 6 No.4 – APPLAUD

Didn’t quite savage the line at 1400m last start, but the setup was far from ideal.

Prior to that, he chased Tuned, who franked the form by heading north and winning a strong Queensland race.

The drop back to 1200m suits, J-Mac goes on, and this race maps far more kindly.

If the track plays to speed as expected, he looks extremely hard to beat.

Best Each-Way Bet – Randwick

Race 4 No.8 – BELLA CORAZON

Luckless two starts back, then very strong late work last start when the tempo was against her.

She beat the fourth horse comfortably and now steps back out to 1400m, which is ideal.

If she jumps cleanly, she can sit closer in the run from the draw and gets her chance to convert.

Strong each-way play.
