David Gately has two plays at Rosehill on Saturday, including a lightly weighted runner whose recent form through two promising horses makes him particularly well placed.

Rosehill is expected to race on a Good track with the rail out 5m.

With the rail at 3m last meeting, on-speed and inside runners held a clear advantage.

A firmer surface and a light tailwind could again favour those closer to the speed and fence, so the pattern will be worth monitoring through the early races.

Gately's roughie also brings an excellent fresh record into her return and has trialled particularly well ahead of Saturday.

Bet of the Day – Race 4 #10 Anthracite

Anthracite brings some strong and progressive form lines into this.

He was game racing on speed behind the promising King Of The Sea before stepping up to 2000m and beating all bar another exciting prospect in Aethelwulf.

Those performances put him in a great position for Saturday's assignment, particularly with just 52kg on his back.

He has the tactical speed to make his own luck and, if Rosehill again favours those closer to the speed, his racing pattern could become another major advantage.

Anthracite looks to have found a very suitable race.

Best Roughie – Race 9 #7 Verona Rose

Verona Rose resumes with an excellent fresh profile.

She was caught wide but still produced a very good performance first-up in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes last preparation, while she has won two of her other three fresh runs.

Her trial ahead of this return was another positive, hitting the line sweetly despite being under no pressure.

Everything points towards another strong performance fresh and, at around $10, Verona Rose looks a terrific value chance.
