David Gately Horse Racing Tips for Saturday 3/1/26

David Gately has cast his eye over a quality Saturday program across Geelong and Randwick, with conditions shaping up nicely at both venues.

With Geelong set to race on a Good track and the rail back to True, early patterns will be worth monitoring, particularly for any inside advantage.

In Sydney, Randwick also presents in good order with the rail back to 1m, a setup that should allow runners their chance across the track.

GEELONG – Race 7 No.1 BIG SWINGER

Pleasing return when the ground was a query, then solid again in a deep 1400m race last start where he gave the promising winner 7kg and still beat the third horse clearly.

The drop back to 1100m is the key question, but if he copes with that, he looks very hard to beat under these conditions.

 

BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)

RANDWICK – Race 9 No.2 HAWKER HALL

Chased a very smart one fresh in fast time (gap back to third), then backed it up by beating another promising type at his latest run.

Has since trialled sweetly and profiles as a horse ready to go on with it.

 

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY

RANDWICK – Race 6 No.2 CHANGING COLOURS

Terrific return, weaving through the field and charging home with one of the fastest final 200m splits of the day.

Importantly, the horses that beat her raced much handier in the run.

Steps to 1400m suits, she boasts a strong record on dry ground, and at around $8 she looks excellent value.

 

BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY

GEELONG – Race 6 No.8 STYLISH

Chased a good one in the Taken Stakes fresh, then kept closing again at Ballarat in a race that has already produced strong winning form.

Likely to get a lovely run off what should be a genuinely run race here and looks ready to break through.
