Mick Gannon – Warwick Farm Wednesday Best Bets

Race 1 – #6 Krasina

Krasina made a strong impression during her first preparation, competing in tougher races and showing enough ability to suggest she had a bright future before heading to the paddock.

She returned in good order first-up over 1000m, working through the line strongly and giving every indication the extra 100m here will suit.

The biggest takeaway from that run was how well she found the line late, suggesting she has come back bigger and stronger this campaign.

She still looks a horse with plenty of upside and Gannon expects she can take another step forward here.

Race 4 – #2 Hovland

Everything points towards Hovland peaking third-up.

The son of Dundeel has been building nicely this preparation and now gets to the mile at the right stage of his campaign, which looks ideal.

His first-up effort was strong before fitness gave out late, while second-up he faced a difficult setup after settling too far back on a day that favoured runners closer to the speed.

Despite that, he still closed off strongly into third and the run had more merit than it appears on paper.

With improved fitness, the right distance and a setup that should allow him to settle closer, Gannon believes he can go a couple better this time around.
