Midweek racing heads to two of the country’s premier venues with strong cards at Randwick and Sandown.

The tracks are expected to play fairly, with both venues currently rated Good and ideal weather forecast across the day.

One stepping up in class at Randwick with J-Mac engaged and another bringing top-shelf form to a winnable Sandown contest.

Randwick Race 8 – #8 Brutal Bowler $5.50

This progressive son of Brutal heads to town for the first time and off his last start at Hawkesbury, he looks more than capable of measuring up.

That performance saw him flash late from back in the field, weaving through tight gaps on inferior ground and still finding the line like a horse with more to offer.

He rises in trip here, draws ideally to settle closer in the run and with James McDonald taking the reins, all signals suggest a peak performance is incoming.

If he takes natural improvement into this and gets clear air, he’ll be hard to hold out.

 

Sandown Race 7 – #2 Conchiero $2.30

Conchiero was a late scratching from the Albury Guineas due to weather, but the silver lining is a better set-up here at Sandown.

While the wide draw is a query, his racing pattern and ability to absorb pressure will allow him to cross early and settle in a forward position.

He brings the strongest form lines into the race and should get every chance to capitalise over the 1400m.

If he reproduces his recent effort, he’ll be fighting out the finish.
