Mick Gannon – Hawkesbury Saturday Best Bets 2/5/26

Race 6 – #9 Karinska

Karinska looks primed to produce a peak performance here.

She was desperately unlucky last start in Group 3 company, held up for the majority of the straight when full of running and never given the opportunity to fully extend.

That effort followed strong form through the Group 1 Surround Stakes, where she worked into the race well before peaking late.

This looks a more suitable setup. With good speed engaged, she should be able to settle off the pace, build into the race and get clear air at the right time.

If she gets the breaks, she has the turn of foot to finish over the top of this field and looks ready to run a career-best race.

Race 9 – #9 Monte Supreme

Monte Supreme looks very well placed dropping back in grade.

She comes out of a strong Group 2 race where she finished fifth, beaten just over a length, in a run that had plenty of merit given the race shape was against her.

This time she drops to Listed level and finds a race where there looks to be genuine tempo, which should suit her perfectly.

She is a mare that thrives when able to settle off speed and build momentum, and this map gives her that opportunity.

With the class edge and a more favourable race shape, she looks to have found a very winnable race.
