Ingham Day at Randwick always provides a deep, competitive program, and Mick Gannon has zeroed in on a handful of runners he believes are ideally placed under the expected conditions.

With the rail set to true and a Soft surface at the time of writing, race shape and adaptability will be crucial.

Gannon is leaning toward horses with upside, tactical speed, and the ability to handle a touch of give in the track.

Race 1 – #4 Hyperbolic $3.40

Hyperbolic was dominant last start over 1400m, enjoying some favours but still putting her rivals away with authority.

She now steps out to the mile third-up, which shapes as an ideal progression for a mare who races professionally and positions herself well in running.

From a soft draw, expect Tommy Berry to roll forward and find an on-speed position, controlling her race at an even tempo.

If she gets that scenario, she should prove very hard to run down.

Race 10 – #3 Yes Lulu $7.00

Yes Lulu caught the eye two starts back when producing fast closing sectionals against the pattern of the day, making up significant ground off a slow tempo that clearly favoured those on speed.

That performance suggested she has plenty of ability and a strong turn of foot when conditions suit.

Her latest run at Kembla Grange was a clear forgive, with the on-pace bias and track conditions working against her.

She now returns to Randwick with the rail in the true position and a big field expected to generate genuine pressure.

The addition of blinkers first-time signals intent, and with the right tempo, she looks set to show her best on Saturday.

Race 8 The Ingham – #20 Sibaj $5.00

Sibaj looks the right price to find out if he’s ready to take the next step.

The barrier draw isn’t ideal, but with even luck he should be able to slot into midfield in the running line and get his opportunity to finish off strongly.

With the right run, he has the upside to make his presence felt late.
