Randwick racing this Saturday is expected to be run under dry conditions, a key factor for several runners looking to improve sharply on recent wet-track efforts.

With the track likely to play fairly and tempo again an important part of the equation, Mick Gannon has zeroed in on two runners who profile well based on conditions, speed map, and rider engagement.

Mick Gannon – Randwick Tips | Saturday Racing 7/2/26

Randwick Race 2 – No.16 ROSE AYE ($9.00)

Failed last start on a rain-affected track after rolling forward from a wide draw, where she was always vulnerable late. She looks far better suited back to 1200 metres on a dry surface.

Trainer Matthew Dale is in excellent form and the booking of James McDonald for a Highway is a strong push that this mare is ready to peak.

From barrier 12 she should roll across, land on-speed, and be given every chance to bounce back to her best form.

Randwick Race 5 – No.7 MONTEE VEEBEE ($2.60)

Produced a career peak last start for Bjorn Baker, who continues to do an outstanding job with this stable transfer from the Price yard.

His first-up run at Newcastle was exceptional, settling on-speed before running the second-fastest final 200 metres of the meeting and winning eased down by 4.2 lengths.

He steps up in grade but drops 3 kilograms and maps perfectly in a race lacking early speed over the 1200 metres.

If he reproduces his last start performance, he will be extremely hard to beat.
