Mick Gannon – Randwick Saturday Best Bets 8/8/26

Race 3 – #2 Nullarbor Jane $7.50

Nullarbor Jane was extremely game last start after being asked to lead at a fast tempo on a day where there was no advantage being on speed.

Despite the race shape working against her, she continued to fight all the way to the line, eventually going down by just one length to the fast-finishing Astronomix.

Importantly, there was another 2.2 lengths back to third, highlighting the strength of the performance.

Deep into her preparation, she's rock-hard fit and ready for the rise to 1400 metres.

The map also looks far more favourable this time, with the opportunity to settle on speed without having to work anywhere near as hard.

She shapes as a terrific each-way bet.

Race 10 – #4 Watson $3.00

Watson was an impressive midweek winner last start and is ready to take the step into stronger company.

His previous preparation provides more than enough evidence that he belongs at this level, particularly his fourth behind Tempted, Napoleonic and Wodeton.

That form stacks up extremely well for a race like this.

The wide draw allows him to roll forward with a senior jockey aboard and establish a prominent position, while the expected drier surface is another major positive.

We haven't seen Watson's ceiling yet and he has a significant amount of upside compared to many of his rivals.

He's ready to take another step forward on Saturday.
