Mick Gannon heads into the midweek meeting with two runners that look ideally suited by race shape and conditions, while also identifying a pair of strong blackbookers to follow out of Saturday’s Gosford meeting.

With track position expected to play an important role, Gannon is focusing on runners that map to control their races and bring the right form into more suitable setups.

All this information and benefits are avaliable in his premium package which you can grab below.

Mick Gannon – Midweek Best Bets 13/5/26

Race 4 – #1 Oso Spirited

I think Oso Spirited gets a terrific opportunity to notch another win here.

She continues to improve with every start and this race sets up perfectly for her. With the rail out 5 metres, I’m expecting on pace runners to hold an advantage and in a race that lacks genuine speed, she maps beautifully.

She brings the strongest last-start rating into the race, drops back noticeably in grade and gets further relief with Zac Waddick’s 2kg claim.

Everything points towards her getting control of the race from a favourable position and if she runs to the level she produced last start, she will take beating.

Race 8 – #9 Unique Ambition

Unique Ambition was outstanding last start and I think she can go on with it here.

She was dominant winning against the pattern of the day in Midway grade, which was fully deserved after producing a career peak earlier this prep in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes behind Verona Rose.

From barrier 4 she should settle much closer in the run this time, which only strengthens her chances given the expected setup.

I also like the fact she handles all conditions, so any rain would not worry her, and Nash Rawiller sticking with the mare is another positive.

She looks capable of making it back-to-back wins.

Blackbookers – Gosford Saturday

Race 6 – King Of The Seas

King Of The Seas had no luck whatsoever and still worked home strongly.

He was forced to go via the cape in the straight but continued to attack the line well. I think he will be much better suited getting onto a bigger track next start and if there’s a jockey switch, I’d expect a completely different result.

He’s one to follow closely.

Race 9 – Zambardo

Zambardo produced some of the best closing sectionals of the entire meeting and his run had plenty of merit.

He shapes as though he’s looking for even further now and I think getting onto a more spacious track during the Queensland Carnival will suit him perfectly.

Importantly, any rain affected ground would only enhance his chances.

He’s a horse I want to stay with moving forward.
