Mick Gannon heads to Rosehill expecting genuine Heavy conditions and believes proven wet trackers will hold a major edge throughout the day.
With rain forecast leading into the meeting and the inside lanes potentially playing an important role over shorter trips, Gannon has identified two runners that profile perfectly for the conditions.
One on the rise and another that looks significantly over the odds.

Mick Gannon – Rosehill Best Bets 30/5/26
Race 3 – #14 All The Waye Mae
All The Waye Mae looks extremely well placed to continue her improvement.
She showed plenty of talent early, producing a strong figure on debut before going through a quieter patch, but last start suggested she is back to her best after controlling the race from the front and putting her rivals away at Kembla.
The rise to 1100m is the small query given she hasn’t tackled the trip before, however the setup looks ideal.
She draws the inside, carries only 52.5kg and if the expected advantage near the rail develops in sprint races, she should get every possible favour throughout.
With proven Heavy track credentials and a map that gives her control, Gannon expects she’ll take plenty of catching.
Race 9 – #13 Nellie Lylax
Nellie Lylax profiles as one of the better value plays on the card.
The son of Calyx thrives on rain-affected ground and arrives here deep into his preparation, which means fitness won’t be an issue.
He should roll forward and settle on-speed, an advantage that often becomes critical when conditions are testing.
His run two starts back at Eagle Farm on a Heavy 8 surface was arguably a preparation peak and if he can reproduce anything close to that performance, Gannon believes he is right in the finish.
With the market offering double-figure odds, he looks considerably over the price for a horse with proven wet-track form and the right racing style for conditions.
