We head to the Scone feature meeting with a couple of runners that I think are well placed to improve sharply in suitable setups.
With the rail back in the true position and the track expected to play fairly, I’m focusing on horses that map well, bring hidden merit through recent runs and still look to have upside.

Mick Gannon – Scone Saturday Best Bets 16/5/26
Scone Race 3 – #3 Moscatel
Moscatel could not have been more impressive on debut and I think she can go on with it here.
She absolutely put her rivals away winning by over four lengths and the form around that race is already starting to stack up strongly.
Quarterback who finished third behind her, performed well again last Saturday, while Zousika has since come out and won impressively at Kembla.
The market is likely giving us a generous price because of the wide draw, but I’m not overly concerned given the speed she showed first-up and the fairness of the 1100m start at Scone.
If she can cross without doing too much work early, I think she gives us a massive sight and looks capable of remaining unbeaten.
Scone Race 5 – #4 Man Of Worth
I’m happy to take on some of the more fancied runners here and side with Man Of Worth at the price.
Amreekiyah looks vulnerable stepping from 1400m to 1700m given she has already failed at both 1500m and a mile previously, whereas Man Of Worth shapes as though the extra trip is exactly what he wants.
Yes, it’s a jump from 1250m to 1700m, but the tick-over trial in between runs helps offset that and he profiles as a horse still improving every time he steps out.
I don’t think we’ve seen his ceiling yet and in a race where the setup creates value around him, I’m happy to back class and upside to prevail.
