Lay Betting Tips: Who to avoid on the punt 10/10/26

This week we focus on two warm favourites that both appear severely over bet and come up as excellent risks at their current short quotes.
At Rosehill, a popular runner may already be well past his Grand Final run and looks to have been entered here as an afterthought, with a significant market drift potentially on the cards inside the final minutes of betting.
Whilst at Caulfield, a gun sprinter returns with an impressive first-up record, however he looks vulnerable at the poison price with several rivals capable of applying serious pressure from a long way out.
Lays of the Day 10/10/26
Rosehill Race 7 #1 Lindermann $1.80
Going to pot the raging favourite Lindermann in the Hill Stakes, with the belief his Grand Final run may already be behind him following the Underwood, where he could have left plenty on the track.
There is a genuine risk he turns up here a tired horse, particularly against several rivals who may have had this race earmarked as their major target all along.
I expect the market could get the wobbles late as the professional betting teams identify which runners have been specifically set to peak on the day, rather than those simply extending their campaigns.
The speed map also presents some challenges, with a Ciaron Maher runner drawn out in barrier eight likely to press forward and make life far more difficult than expected for Lindermann to secure an uncontested lead.
If he is forced to work harder than anticipated through the early stages, there is every chance the effects of his previous campaign efforts begin to show when the pressure goes on.
At $1.80, punters are being asked to take rock bottom odds about a horse who may already have produced his peak performance for the preparation.
More than happy to bet around him here and I expect $2 or better could be widely available by start time.
Lay.

Caulfield Race 6 #1 Jigsaw $2.30
He is very good!
However, even with his impressive first up record of four wins from nine attempts, he still comes up as an excellent risk early in the preparation.
The market appears far too carried away with the inside draw in gate one and the assumption he will simply roll forward and dictate proceedings with a soft lead.
I am not convinced it will be anywhere near that straightforward.
There are several runners engaged who should be capable of keeping him honest throughout, and if the race develops into a sit and sprint, a few of these may possess a sharper finishing burst.
The nightmare scenario for the favourite is Striesand, Spywire and Grand Larceny applying pressure from a long way out, forcing him to burn valuable petrol before the race is there to be won.
All three look capable of making this a genuine test, and with Jigsaw returning from a break, he may struggle to absorb that pressure when the race gets serious.
I can see him looking the winner turning for home before the opposition begins to close in, with the favourite paddling late and the bubble bursting inside the final 100 metres.
At the current price, there is simply no value in taking the risk.
Avoid.
