This week we focus on two Randwick runners who both appear high risk propositions in their respective Group 1 feature races.

In the Sires’ Produce Stakes, the favourite may race flat following a taxing Golden Slipper campaign, with the step to 1400 metres not as straightforward as many expect.

In the Doncaster Mile, the warm favourite faces a very difficult speed map and with a conservative riding style likely, shapes as an excellent risk at the short quote.

Saturday Lays of the Day 4/4/26

Randwick Race 6 #7 Streisand $3.30

She produced an excellent run in the Golden Slipper, finishing second of sixteen; however, this has been a long preparation for a young horse, and the effects of that campaign may now be catching up.

The Golden Slipper was clearly the Grand Final target, and she may have already reached her peak on that day.

Horses at this stage of preparation can often regress quickly.

While many see the rise to 1400 metres as a positive, I believe a strongly run race at this distance could expose her.

If the tempo is genuine, she may be under pressure late and struggling inside the final 200 metres.

I expect professional betting teams to take a position against her late, with a market drift likely as the start time approaches.

Avoid.

Randwick Race 8 #15 Sheza Alibi $2.00

There is no doubt she has quality, however a Group 1 Randwick mile presents a completely new test and a significant step up in pressure.

This is a deep field packed with proven Group 1 performers who will ensure a genuinely run race and make this a true staying test at the distance.

The wide draw in barrier thirteen creates a major challenge, particularly with Jamie Melham engaged.

Her riding style suggests she is unlikely to push aggressively early to secure a position.

From this gate, she risks being caught wide or forced back near the tail of the field, both of which create significant obstacles in a race of this calibre.

She is now fully exposed to the market, with her price heavily compressed due to her profile, leaving little value for punters.

At the current quote, she appears to be an excellent risk.

Lay.
