Mick Gannon has two strong chances at Randwick on Saturday, with both coming off performances that were better than the result suggests.

Barrengarry had to overcome a tough run first-up and looks capable of taking another significant step forward, while Headwall was desperately unlucky last start and gets a race shape that should allow him to unleash his finish.

Mick's full package is avaliable now for punters to snap up.

Mick Gannon – Randwick Saturday Best Bets 19/9/26

Race 2 – #9 Barrengarry $2.00

Barrengarry looks ready to improve sharply second-up.

He had no favours on return, settling three-wide and back before coming under pressure approaching the turn.

Despite the tough run, he picked up strongly from the 200m and kept working through the line.

That performance should bring him on significantly and we're yet to see his ceiling.

The draw gives him a much better setup this time. He can settle around midfield without covering unnecessary ground before getting his opportunity to build into the race.

With a cleaner run in transit, Barrengarry can run over the top of them late.

Race 9 – #5 Headwall $3.50

Headwall should have finished much closer last start and arguably should have won.

He was slowly away and ended up at the rear before being forced to duck and weave between runners throughout the straight. Once he finally found clear running, he charged through the line.

Saturday's setup looks much better.

A strong tempo should allow him to switch off before getting a soft run in transit from the draw. With clear air when it matters, he has the finish to put this race away.

Ninja is the obvious danger, but he's already secured an Everest slot and looks likely to settle worse than midfield before searching for a three or four-wide line into the race.

I'm happy to take him on this time and side with Headwall.
