Best Bet – Randwick Race 1 #6 Royal Accord

Royal Accord is an exciting colt by gun sire Home Affairs who has looked the part in his recent trials.

He's shown plenty of natural ability in those hit-outs, and I expect him to make a strong impression when he steps out on race day.

The barrier is a major positive. He draws favourably and maps to settle within the first four runners, which should give him every opportunity to produce his best.

For a young horse making his debut, securing a prominent position without having to work too hard early can make all the difference.

If Royal Accord reproduces the ability he's shown at the trials, I expect him to be extremely difficult to beat.

He's my best bet in the opening race, and I'd also recommend taking some of the $51 currently available in Golden Slipper betting.

Next Best – Randwick Race 4 #5 Ciaron's Star

Ciaron's Star looks exceptionally well placed to return to winning form in what appears a very suitable assignment.

She's a proven second-up performer, which is an important factor heading into Saturday's race.

More importantly, she brings clearly the strongest ratings into this field, giving her a significant advantage over her opposition on exposed form.

The race looks very winnable, and I expect her to take plenty of beating provided she enjoys even luck in running.

There doesn't appear to be any need for improvement beyond her established level of performance. If she runs to her ratings, she should simply be too good for this opposition.

For those playing the exotics, Cresent King looks the nearest danger and is worth including in quinellas and exactas.

Ciaron's Star is my next best at Randwick, and with even luck in transit, I expect her to be winning.
