Mick Gannon – Randwick Saturday Best Bets 5/9/26

Race 1 – #16 Vexxy – $13.00

Vexxy was excellent last start after settling near last in a slowly run race before rattling home into fourth.

She produced the best sectionals of the race despite making her run out wide in the inferior ground, adding plenty of merit to the performance.

This time she gets the golden switch from a wide barrier to a low draw, while the rise in distance should allow her to settle much closer.

There is good speed drawn outside, so she can find a midfield position with cover before getting her chance to finish strongly.

At the double-figure price, Vexxy is massive overs.

Race 7 – #7 Idle Flyer – $2.70

Idle Flyer's four-from-four second-up record is significant and she's perfectly placed to maintain that unbeaten record on Saturday.

She drops in grade against inferior opposition, comes down 1kg in weight and regains the services of Zac Lloyd, who has an outstanding record of seven wins from eight rides aboard this talented mare.

Everything points towards another peak performance second-up.

Idle Flyer looks ready to go to a new level this spring and should simply prove too classy for them.
