Eagle Farm

Race 1 – Pembrey

We may have seen a very smart filly in Queensland.

Pembrey absolutely destroyed her rivals by 5.4 lengths on debut, stamping herself as a serious talent.

She ran the fastest last 400m and last 100m of the entire meeting, an outstanding effort at her first race start.

While she arguably had the better of conditions on the day, there is undeniable merit in the performance.

With a nomination for the Percy Sykes Stakes and currently around the $26 mark in early markets, she shapes as a filly worth speculating on.

Flemington

Race 1 – Hard Kick

Hard Kick was outstanding on debut, producing one of the highest-rated two-year-old performances of the season.

He has class written all over him and looks every inch a top-liner in the making.

If connections are patient and aim towards the Golden Slipper, he would be ultra-competitive.

Randwick

Race 2 – Mal Coupe

Dominant in victory and looks to have plenty of improvement to come.

He ran strong time figures and profiles as a horse with upside, particularly when he strikes a wet track.

When he finds sting out of the ground, expect him to go to another level this prep.

Race 4 – Arabian Rose

Exceptional against the pattern of the day and completely unsuited by the race shape.

Despite those negatives, she produced a performance full of merit.

She’s talented and looks poised to win very soon.

Race 10 – Sunshineinmypocket & Althoff

Sunshineinmypocket arguably should have won, with excuses galore after a luckless run that wasn’t helped by rider execution.

Meanwhile, Althoff had his race over after 200m, completely unsuited when restrained in a slowly run affair.

Both are worth forgiving and following next start under more suitable conditions.
