Wyong Horses To Follow from Saturday Racing 10/1/26

Randwick delivered a strong weekend of racing, with several runners putting their hand up as genuine horses to follow through the remainder of their preparations.

Mick Gannon has gone through the meeting and identified the key blackbookers punters should be keeping firmly onside.

Race 3 – Oakfield Saturn

Raced on top of a fast tempo and still proved too strong for her rivals.

From a wide draw with the blinkers on, she was ridden positively to take luck out of the equation and duly saluted.

The performance had plenty of substance, and she profiles as a horse to follow stepping up in trip, particularly when able to settle on speed again next start.

 

Race 5 – Mailata

Was left with a mountain to climb after spotting the leader Mogo Magic an 8.4-length start at the 600m.

Despite over-racing at a slow tempo while the leader dictated in front, Mailata still rattled home to run the third-fastest last 400m of the meeting.

First run in blinkers will bring him on significantly. I am expecting improvement next time.

 

Race 6 – Beside The Ocean

Found herself ridden quietly in a slowly run race, then had to negotiate traffic in the home straight.

Despite the obstacles, she made good late ground and shaped as a horse with plenty more wins in store.

One to stick with confidently as she continues through her campaign.
