A fascinating runner for Paul Snowden, Touristic has plenty of ability and looks well-placed in this field.

His last-start effort at Wyong appeared more like a barrier trial, settling well back and never getting into the race.

Now he receives a major jockey upgrade to Damien Lane, which should be worth several lengths.

The stable wouldn’t be sending him to Melbourne unless he was showing plenty at home, making him a serious contender.

Tycoon Star

A winner of the Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington on debut, Tycoon Star showed early talent before finishing midfield at Caulfield in his second outing.

Given his early experience and race education, expect significant improvement in this preparation.

His previous runs suggest the stable wasn’t aiming to flatten him in his first campaign, instead preparing him for a Blue Diamond campaign.

This race is a key stepping stone towards that goal, and with fitness and racecraft on his side, he should be primed to perform.

My Gladiola

A dominant winner of the Blue Diamond Preview last start at Sandown, where she surged to the front inside the final 200m.

My Gladiola stamped herself as one of the standout 2YO fillies this season.

While drawn wide in gate 12, that may actually be an advantage at Caulfield—especially for younger horses who resent being cluttered up on the rail.

Expect Jamie Mott to settle midfield in the moving line, peeling out at the right moment to finish over the top.

Marble Arch

A well-backed winner last start at Flemington ($3 into $2.50), Marble Arch showed grit by racing three-wide without cover at times yet still finishing strong.

Her toughness under pressure suggests she can absorb a fast tempo, and with Jamie Mott replacing the previous rider, she gets a significant upgrade.

Look for further improvement, making her a serious winning chance again.

Oh Diamond Lil

A progressive filly who has been building well through the grades, Oh Diamond Lil ran a solid second at Rosehill last start.

She was beaten by Perfumist, a horse expected to frank the form moving forward.

Now third-up and stepping up to 1600m at Randwick, she should get every chance to finish strongly.

Puntin

An on-speed grinder Puntin has made every post a winner, leading throughout to win all three career starts.

This is a big step up in grade to Benchmark 78 metro company, but he has earned his shot.

Drawn wide in gate 11, but with a lack of early speed in the race, he should have no trouble crossing to lead.

If left unpressured up front, he could take plenty of running down.

Price Tag

A highly regarded 2YO being touted as a serious Golden Slipper contender, Price Tag is expected to win this well if she is to justify that hype.

Her last start at Sandown was eye-catching, as she got too far back yet still charged home to finish second of 12.

Look for significant improvement second-up, with this race being a key target on her path to the Slipper.

Mawjood

Heavily backed at Warwick Farm last start ($4 into $3.30), but failed to fire when finishing well back.

Given the weight of money, something clearly wasn’t right that day.

If the horse is well within himself, he’s a big improver here and must be showing plenty at home to warrant early backing again.

Racing for Emirates Park under the Hawkes stable, expectations will be high—connections will want a return.
